Elderberry is a great shrub for the wet part of your garden.  It will send out runners that can be controlled by cutting.  It also helps to cut it down to the ground every other year to control its spread.  Or, let it go and create a nice privacy screen and area for nesting birds.  The health benefits of elderberry are well known so this would be a great addition for your medicial garden.
