This has got to be the heartiest plant ever. It can live in the driest, saltiest conditions. I often see it growing in the crevasses of rocks along the coast getting splashed by tides and living its best life. Therefore, it is a great plant for hellstrip street plantings and rock gardens. Goldenrods are a late blooming plant, which is great for pollinators.
(And no, goldenrods do not cause hayfever. They have heavy, sticky pollen that does not get airborn. Ragweed is usually the culprit of fall allergies.)
