This is a near-native with its closest range being in PA. I just love the unusual flowers and unique rattly seed heads that last through the winter. It puts up spikes of lavender flowers that last most of the summer and attract lots of pollinators. I have it growing in the hottest, dryest part of my garden and it is thriving. It will slowly expand but pretty much stays put.
