Beach plums like well drained soil, either dry or moist. They produce tart plums that can be eaten straight from the tree or made into jams and jellies. Two shrubs are required for cross pollination to make fruit. They will sucker and if left alone, they can make a nice colony. Or, keep the suckers trimmed to make them more tree-like.
