Also called 'women's tobacco'. I adore the little fuzzy flowers on pussytoes. The leaves of the plant are velvety and reach just a few inches tall, and in the spring spikes of white flowers grow to about a foot tall. This plant makes a great ground cover in dry, sandy soil. It is the host plant for the American Lady and Painted Lady butterflies. The caterpillars make webby coverings and can defoliate a plant, but the plant should regrow and come back.
