Sometimes called blue cardinal flower, great blue lobelia is a great hummingbird plant with its deep tubular flowers.  Like cardinal flower, it likes moist conditions and does best in part shade.  However, I have grown it in more sun and average soil and it keeps coming back.  It is a short-lived perennial but should reseed itself.
